What does Dene Games NT do?
We strive to develop Dene Games as a recognized and established sport within the Northwest Territories and Canada. Dene Games NT is a operated by the Aboriginal Sports Circle Staff and overseen by a volunteer working group to ensure that there is proper consultation from elders, officials and communities.
Our goal is to build capacity in the Northwest Territories through promotion of the sport establishing new partnerships and community investment, and to develop athletes while supporting coaches and officials with development and training opportunities.
Supporting our members
If you become a member of the Dene Games NT, you get access to all programs and services.
We will support on developing athletes who are looking to prepare for competitions, a coach wanting to grow and share your knowlegde or a parent wanting to get involved as an event official. However you want to help with Dene Games, we're here to help.
Supporting our clubs
ASCNWT is willing to work with any communities, recreation departments or individuals that are interested in developing a Dene Games club in the NWT. We can work with them to help them by providing guidence and creating opportunities for them to grow.
Developing and implementing programs
We work with local and national partners to develop Dene Games programs from grassroots level to elite level for athletes, coaches and officials.
Hosting events
We plan an important role in the organization and delivery of events at the grassroots level of Dene Games, including:
- Territorial Trails
- Arctic Winter Games
- Traditional Games Championships
Team NT
ASCNWT is proud to help develop compeitiors of the Dene Games community. Dene Games NT selects athletes to compete at Arctic Winter Games, selects the teams' coaches, and provides support to athletes preparing for major events.
